Janice Mallory - President
Born in Montreal, came to BC in 1965, and to Summerland in 1995 after a 30 year nursing career. I have volunteered with the Library, Museum, Food Bank, RECOPE, and for the last 6-7 years with Agur Lake Camp Society, where I am currently the bookkeeper. I believe in the concept and mandate of the camp and would like to be more involved with day to day decisions.

Carol Blackmore - Vice President
Carol Blackmore was born in southern Ontario and now lives in Keremeos. She has been a registered nursing assistant for over thirty years, working with persons who have disabilities. During this time she was a teacher's assistant for fifteen years, working with children who have disabilities, and running her own business for families and loved ones of people with disabilities. Carol now works with adults with disabilities in a community setting, with Community Living. She was involved with the Special Olympics. She and her husband, Ron have five children and nine grandchildren.
Ken Carlson, born in Cranbrook, has a lifetime of work experience in BC. He started as a gas pipe fitter for the Inland Natural Gas company, and then became manager and owner of several plumbing companies. He has run a vineyard, been a relief gas inspector, and been clerk of works in two mechanical upgrades projects. Ken is an active volunteer in his community, he has sat on the board of directors of four community organizations, and been chairman for two of them. He is a member of the Penticton Curling Club, Skaha Meadows Golf Club and the Penticton Adventurers Club. He and his wife, Marjorie have two boys and a girl, and are grandparents to seven.
Bernie McCallum - Treasurer
I was born in Penticton and graduated from the Penticton High School. My wife and I were married in 1967 and shortly thereafter moved to Vancouver. In 1980 we returned to the Okanagan and have lived in both Kelowna and Penticton. We have two sons, Barry and Neil who live in the Vancouver/Ottawa area. We also have two grandchildren who also live in Ottawa.
In 1975 I attained my Certified General Accountants designation and worked in various industries from Marine Transportation, Shipbuilding, Industrial Sales Distribution and owned a Promotional Products business after retiring from the industry. I am an avid golfer, gardener, love hiking and various outdoor activities.
Rich Crawford, a local retiree and graduate of Penticton High School, has three daughters and two sons who also reside in the south Okanagan. He has a long history in the Penticton automotive industry, from pumping gas through to sales manager, as well as managing a Volkswagen Jeep franchise for fourteen years. He is an active member of both the Penticton Curling Club and Adventure Club and volunteers for Interior Health. Rich contributes to ALCS in many ways.
Iras Folden - Secretary
Hi my name is Iras Folden and I was born and lived for many years in Powell River, B.C. I have 5 children and 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild and now live in Keremeos B.C. with my husband and our son that has a variety of disabilities. For many years I ran a family daycare with all types of children and many with Special Needs. My husband and I also have fostered children and many of those had challenges. I now work for Community Living B.C. in Keremeos with an adult program for people with different abilities. We really enjoy the outdoors with camping, fishing and all of things nature related.
James Macaulay is a full time employment counselor and workshop facilitator with the provincial Work BC program in Kelowna. James was born with Spina Bifida and uses a wheelchair and crutches for mobility. James' wife, Joanna is a nurse with Interior Health and son, Quin is also special needs with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Over the past few years, James and his family have been campers at Agur Lake and have accessed Agur Lake for fishing on numerous occasions. James is most excited about a wheelchair accessible camping experience with great fishing within an hour of his home in West Kelowna. James and his family are great supporters of Agur Lake Camp and for this reason have joined the Board of Directors to support other families and children with special needs to access a wheelchair accessible wilderness camp experience. Additionally, James is a Director with the Kelowna and District Society for People in Motion and on the Grants Review Committee for the Central Okanagan Foundation.
Jeff Colquhoun lives in Summerland with his wife and 2 young children. He has been working in the health care industry for 6 years as a Health Care Assistant in Summerland and Penticton. He works in the Penticton Hospital along with several care homes in the area.
He enjoys gardening, fishing and camping in the summer with his family.
Debbie Schneider, Office Manager
Debbie began work in the Society office in December 2016. Debbie moved to Summerland from Whitehorse, Yukon in November 2010 where she and her family spent 9 years. Debbie has many years previous office experience in both Whitehorse and Kamloops, BC. Debbie and her family fully enjoyed their years spent in the North and cherish the fond memories they created there, but were very happy to relocate to the sunny, warm Okanagan! Debbie is married with two children.

Janice arrived in Summerland in 1995 after retiring from a career in Nursing. My husband and I retired here and set about getting to know the community. Many volunteer and some part time paid jobs later, I joined the Agur Lake Camp Society promoting the barrier free camp right here in Summerland. After volunteering in many capacities I am now the Society’s bookkeeper and learning new tricks every day.
